Chapter Ten

When Corinne woke up, she lay on the floor, Aidan’s arm draped across her waist.

They were still in the music room. He must have found a spare quilt from somewhere, because he’d swaddled them in warmth.

She glanced across to the mirror. In her mind’s eye, she still saw them reflected there, him kneeling behind her, his cock fully sheathed in her body, his balls nestled against her upper thighs, slamming into her with every plunge, his face blazing all the desire and need she’d felt in his violent thrusting. He was truly beautiful, his body, with the light raking over it, revealing all the hills and valleys of a well-toned man. Her well-toned man.

Corinne swallowed. Did she want this? It seemed she’d belonged to someone all her life, while never being herself. Now he wanted her to belong to him. She wanted it too, but she needed to find herself before it was too late. Too late to be a person in her own right. Her father had taken over her life to an extent she’d only become aware of recently, tricked her into thinking she was making her own decisions while she was really dancing to his tune. Now Aidan wanted to help her break away so he could have her for his own.

She wasn’t even sure she loved him. Their lovemaking was spectacular, the way he accepted her astonishing, but she needed to think, and while he was doing wonderful things to her body, it was too difficult for her to ever consider giving it up. He was beautiful, but he seemed so invulnerable, so sure in his life and career, she could be nothing but an accessory.

Sometime soon she would have to break away, but for now, she’d hold on. The marriage seemed the best practical solution to her current dilemma, and although he said he’d let her go, she might hurt him terribly when she asked for a divorce. She sighed and his hand stirred.

She knew when he woke up. Something stirred in her mind, like a blink, then he was awake. He swung up to look down into her eyes. “What is it? What’s wrong?”

Corinne put her thoughts out of her mind. “Can you teach me to block my thoughts?”

He bent and kissed her, very softly. “Yes. And how to use them to incite. You can work up an audience that way, get them rocking in minutes.”

“Is that how you do it?”

He shook his head slowly. “No. It’s a point of pride with us. We do it with the music, though we do feed off the energy they send back to us. Every rock band does that, psychic or not.” He caressed her cheek with his free hand, and she moved into it.

“Energy.” She sighed again. “That was what was missing in my last concerts. I don’t want to go back to that.”

“You won’t have to.” He bent to her. His warmth was so seductive that she almost succumbed, but she put her hands on his shoulders and held him off.
